For residents

Your home is being renovated. We're here to help.

If United Relocation is working at your property, our job is to make your move as easy as possible and to make sure you always have someone to call.

What to expect

How your move will work

Every property is a little different, but most moves follow these steps.

  1. 1

    You'll get written notice

Before anything happens, you'll receive written notices that explain the renovation, the timeline and what it means for your household. Keep these papers in a safe place.

  2. 2

    We'll meet with you

Our team will meet with you to learn about your household: who lives with you, any accessibility or medical needs, pets, and anything else that matters for your move.

  3. 3

    We'll plan your move together

Before moving day, you'll know where you're going, about how long you'll be there, and what moving help is provided.

  4. 4

    Moving day

We coordinate the move and stay in touch while you're in temporary housing. If something comes up, call us.

  5. 5

    Welcome home

When the work is finished, we'll coordinate your move back so you can settle into your renovated home.

Questions

Common questions

Don't see your question here? Call us at 726-200-5004.

Why do I have to move?

Some renovation work, like replacing kitchens, bathrooms, flooring or building systems, can't be done safely while someone is living in the home. A temporary move lets crews finish the work safely and more quickly.

Will I be able to come back?

For temporary relocations, the plan is for you to return once the work is done, either to your own renovated apartment or to another unit at the property. Your written notice will confirm the plan for your household.

How much notice will I get?

You'll receive written notice before you're asked to move. It will include the dates and details for your household. Exact timing depends on your property's renovation schedule.

Who pays for the move?

Your written notices will explain the moving help provided at your property. On many renovations, packing supplies and the move itself are arranged for you. Please call us before paying for any moving costs yourself.

Where will I stay?

It depends on the project. Temporary housing may be another apartment at your property, a unit nearby or a hotel. We'll explain your arrangement before moving day.

What about my rent?

Your notices will explain how rent is handled during your temporary move. If anything is unclear, call us or your property management office and we'll walk you through it.

I have a disability or medical needs, or I need help packing. What should I do?

Tell us as early as you can. We plan around accessibility needs, medical equipment, mobility and other circumstances. You can also ask for a reasonable accommodation.

Do I still need to do my recertification paperwork?

Yes. Keep up with any income certification or recertification paperwork from your property, even during construction. If you're not sure what's needed, ask us and we'll help.

Who do I call with questions?

Call United Relocation at 726-200-5004 with any questions about your move. For lease or maintenance questions that aren't related to the renovation, contact your property management office.

Moving tips

A few things that make moving day easier

  • Keep medications, IDs, important papers and valuables with you, not in moving boxes.
  • Pack a bag with everything you'll need for the first few days.
  • Label boxes with your name, unit number and the room they belong in.
  • Take photos of how your TV and electronics are connected before unplugging them.
  • Tell us about pets, large or fragile items, and appliances you own.
  • Ask questions early. No question is too small.
